What is the principle of axial flow fan?

The air enters and exits the axial-flow fan in linear direction i.e., axial flow. The basic principle is that air moves horizontally, parallel to the rotating shaft, in and out of the axial flow fan that creates a high flow rate of low pressure.

What is the difference between centrifugal and axial flow fan?

The air enters and leaves the axial flow fan in a linear direction, parallel to the axis. On the other hand, the direction of the air when exiting the centrifugal gas is changed to the right angle (90-degree) from the direction of the incoming air. Centrifugal fan or a blower is used as in leaf blower or inflator.

In an axial flow fan, the air enters and exit only in one direction i.e., linear direction. The working principle of an axial flow fan is that air enters the fan housing horizontally, parallel to the shaft to which connected blades are spun, and exists the fan horizontally with increased velocity and volume.

An axial flow fan can be categorized on the basis of blade designs i.e., forward, backward, or straight (radial). The blades throw air against the resistance of other components, thus providing high airflow for intended use. Its working principle is quite opposite of a centrifugal fan in which air enters the fan from sides but when it exists, it turns 90 degree away from its original angle.
