A lining is the second layer of fabric, fur, or another material used in the construction of garments, headgear, luggage, curtains, and purses. Linings not only give a nice inner finish, but they also hide manufacturing elements like raw seam edges, padding, interfacing, and other raw edges of seams. The wear and tear that is placed on clothes is lessened by the addition of a lining, which results in the lined garment having a longer lifespan. What is lining fabric used for?

It is OK to use lining fabric that does not stretch if the garment itself does not stretch, such as a cotton shirt or a jacket made of wool. If, on the other hand, the item is constructed using flexible fabrics such as jersey, tulle, or stretch satin, the lining that one ultimately decides to use needs to also be stretchy.
