This is typically half the time as with prior treatments. The label further states that sofosbuvir in combination with ribavirin may be considered for patients infected with genotype 1 who are interferon-ineligible.[5]Sofosbuvir costs have been quoted by the media as $84,000 for 12 weeks of treatment and $168,000 for the 24 weeks, and variously as AL35,000 for 12 weeks in the UK[6] which some patient advocates, such as Dr. Jennifer Cohn of Doctors without Borders and the organization Doctors of the World have criticized as unaffordable.
