Q. What is the cause of leaking compression fittings?
Answer
It is not possible to avoid over-tightening the nut since the compactness of the compression fitting will be compromised by the extra force. If the nut gets tightened too much, then the ferrule will deform improperly as a result of which the joint will fail. Over-tightening is the most common factor of leaks in compression fittings.
