Lucas has produced the Shear and Beading Machine RD 3800 for over twenty years. This Shear and Beading Machine RD 3800 is designed to satisfy the needs of the truck tank manufacturers and of the tank manufacturers for the food industry. The tanks for the transport of fuels and liquid food often have an oval section and in many cases a polycentric section. These tanks have polycentric bottoms and others bottoms at the ends with the same outer dimensions as the tank and are welded inside the tanks of the trucks to function as separators and breakwater. The machine produced by Lucas can cut and bead bottoms with a maximum dimension of 3.8 meters wide. The bottom can be shaped flat (rarely), more frequently of convex shape, other times the bottom is rolled (which means that the customer rolls a sheet metal, then it is fixed on the RD/3800 which executes the cutting of the bottom and the beading of the external profile of the bottom.)
The machine usually trims the piece that already has its shape (flat pieces, convex, or rolled) and then executes the external beading of the piece. The piece can be fixed on the machine by a suction system or by bolts or other devices. The maximum workable thickness is 5mm for stainless steel; 6mm for soft iron; and 8mm for aluminum alloy (normally used for the construction of road trailers.) The rollers can be designed to give the end user many options for shape, thickness and type of material.
