Rotary Head Weld Cladding System

Rotary Head Weld Cladding System have been in use for over a decade and and were developed PEC, in response to the problems with turntables when manipulating very heavy valve bodies. By keeping the valve body stationary and rotating the torch inside it, most of the manipulation and setup problems are eliminated.
PECa s Rotary Welding Head is mounted on a precision, 2-axes vertical/horizontal manipulator designed to deliver accurate (<0.1mm) and repeatable positioning of the welding torch. This produces a uniform weld metal deposit which requires less machining and produces less material waste. Typically, post weld machining removes less than 1mm of weld material compared to 2mm or more when using conventional cladding systems for weld overlay.
As the welding torch can also be positioned very precisely, we are able to employ Numerically Controlled (NC) techniques to follow weld surfaces that are circular, non-circular (oval, a racetracka ), linear (flat plates), components with intersections (cross bores), semicircular surfaces (pump casings) and many others which are more difficult to weld using conventional systems. A choice of welding single and twin arc processes are available with metal deposit rates that are between 50-100% faster than any other weld cladding system on the market.
