Dear Sir,
Having kept Investment Commission with Finance will facilitate easy and quick reference to present the government policies related to all sorts of investments suggested by each ministry. If this commission has representatives from every ministry related to economic activities of the country, their plans/projects can be discussed and decisions can be taken immediately with reference to existing policies. I think the outcome will be sailing smooth with full support and blessings of all.

Hi Bikky,
Indian Inc. does not need any more red tapes. What India needs to do is to make reforms that make business easy. Build infrastructure that will attract the world business community. The major obstacle to foreign investment in India is red tape and India’s low level infrastructure development poor port terminals, airports and railways. Also India’s visible Third World condition i.e. mass poverty discourages would-be investors.

The recent statement from a top WTO official has come under much criticism. I would say the timing of Stuart Harbinson’s statement that a growing web of regional trading agreements threatens to wreck global trade negotiations was wrong.

In two different parts of the globe there are leaders meeting to keep aside differences and push ahead with negotiations to lower global trade barriers seen as impediments to the planet's economic growth.

Here in our part of the world, SAARC Commerce ministers were meeting to facilitate faster progress of negotiations on SAARC Free Trade Area (SAFTA), due to come into effect from January, 2006 as per the agreed time-frame. The meeting was also a step to give a major and renewed thrust to trade and economic cooperation among the nations of the SAARC countries.

Elsewhere, Leaders of 21 Pacific Rim economies met to discuss liberalizing trade and addressing global security concerns.

No doubt, unlike WTO trade rules, which are standard across the world, bilateral and other regional free trade agreements vary widely and are largely discriminatory against other partners. However, it should understand that bilateral and regional trade between like-minded countries is here to stay.

I would say instead of criticizing, the WTO should encourage both bilateral and regional trade pacts but within the frame-work of the body’s guidelines.
