Stainless steel is a material not easy to forming, typical method currently using, is powder by press, stamping, casting, machine.. Stainless Steel MIM is good method to produce some stainless product, with complex shape without high weight. (in some cases, MIM can produce some stainless product in high weight, such as more than 1000 gram,) Mostly Stainless Steel MIM is from 0.1 gram to 100 gram. The typical material is 316L and 17-4PH, 316L is higher cost, better in antirust. 17-4PH can be hardened, more accurate in size.
Comparing tungsten, even tungsten is higher in raw material, but stainless steel is higher cost in many cases per gram because people has strict size and tolerance requirement. It is most important issue in stainless steel.
