A composite material consists of a polymer
matrix strengthened with fibers. Typically, the
fibers are glass fibers, while the polymer is
often epoxy, vinylester, or polyester
thermosetting plastic. Additionally, phenol
formaldehyde resins are still utilized. FRPs find
widespread applications in aerospace,
automotive, marine, construction industries,
and ballistic armor.
