| Description |
Jiangsu Sopo (Group) Co., Ltd., the former Zhenjiang Chemical Plant, was originally established in 1958. After over fifty years of development, Sopo has become a big cross-regional and cross-trade national enterprise, focusing on production and sale of chemical products and integrating scientific research, manufacturing, trade and services. Since 2004, Sopo has been listed in Top 100 Chinese Petrochemical Enterprises.
By the end of 2010, Sopo owns a total capital asset of 9.67 billion yuan. It occupies an area of 3713 Mu and has 4416 employees. Sopo has 4 wholly-owned sub-companies and 10 holding companies. One of its holding companies, Jiangsu Sopo Chemical Industry Shareholding Co., Ltd.(Code: 600746; Name: Jiangsu Sopo), became listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange on September 18th, 1996. Zhenjiang Sopo Chemical Industry Engineering Co., Ltd., one of Sopos wholly-owned sub-companies, has a design qualification of A Level.
Currently Sopo owns a capacity of 1,200,000 t/a of glacial acetic acid, 540,000 t/a of methanol, 400,000 t/a of ethyl acetate, 300,000 t/a of sulfuric acid, 120,000 t/a of chlor-alkali, 40,000 t/a of ADC blowing agent, etc., among which the capacities of ethyl acetate and ADC blowing agent rank the first in the world, and the capacity of acetic acid ranks the first in Asia and the third in the world. All Sopos main products are well sold in different parts of the world, enjoying sound international reputation. Sopo is also equipped with its own heat power plant, water plant, docks with foreign qualifications and railway branches with dangerous chemicals transportation qualifications.
