Prochlorperazine maleate exerts anticholinergic, CNS depressant and antihistaminic effects. Prochlorperazine maleate depresses release of hypothalamic and hypophyseal hormones, decreases sensitivity of middle-ear labyrinth and reduces conduction in vestibular-cerebellar pathways.
Prochlorperazine Maleate is prescribed to alleviate the symptoms of labyrinthitis, which include not only nausea and vertigo, but spatial and temporal 'jerking' and distortion.
