Talcum Powder is an important industrial mineral. Talcum Powder is also known as Soapstone Powder. It is also used as Baby Talc for cosmetics. Talc is valued for its extreme softness, smoothness, hrdrophobicity, high lubricating and hiding power and for its ability to absorb oil and grease. Its resistance to heat, electricity and acids make it an ideal surface for lab counter tops and electrical switchboards. Talcum powder is also an important filler material for paints, rubber and insecticides. Even with all these uses, most people only know talc as the primary ingredient in talcum powder.
Talcum powder is used as a filling in Plastic industry; it is also called Plastic talc powder & Paper talc powder.
Application of Talc
1-PAPER
The paper industry is the largest consumer of Talc and generally uses 300 Mesh (53) with the range of brightness varying between 80% to 96%.
2-PLASTIC
With the plastic industry on a fast growth-track, the usage of talc is growing fast in PP, HDPE, LDPE, PVC, ABS & Thermosetting Compounds.
Talc is having a huge demand as filler due to its following properties:

The pharmaceutical talc is processed to remove impurities like iron oxide, dolomite, carbon, magnesium and carbonate minerals.
7-Detergents
In detergent powder also, Talc acts as a carrier of detergents and also reduces the cost. Due to its natural quality of being inert and harmless to skin, it is the most popular filler.
