AIDS Etiology: As regards to etiological aspects, the predisposing factors for AIDS are known homosexuality, drug addiction, and direct contact with perspiration, feaces, urine and saliva of the AIDS patient.
It is believed that human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is responsible for this disease. But there seems great diversity of opinion among scientist and research scholars.

Reasons: Modern life style, air and atmospheric pollution and lastly but most important factor is the irrational and abuse of modern drugs like antibiotics, analgesics, antiviral, sedative etc can play vital role to weaken the immunity or to destroy Immunity. Many drugs produce blood dyscresia which harms both WBC and RBC. For immunodeficiency "T" helper cell are also believed to destroy immunity. Anticancer drug therapy also destroys many healthy cells and by way of such hazardous effect the immunity is lost and hence AIDS takes place.Another important aspect, worth considering is that of environmental pollutions. Recent study has revealed that smoke pollution in many cities has been found responsible to reduce sperm counts is young people, and has caused male infertility.

AIM of the treatment: After due consideration it can be believed that the aim of the treatment for AIDS should be to improve immunity and not to kill the virus by any kind of antiviral drug therapy. For the treatment purpose Ayurveda has suggested RASAYANA therapy which is specifically aimed to improve resistance power by increasing the immunity and helps to combat disease producing virus. In Ayurveda two kinds of Rasayana are suggested, one is known as kuti pravesh and other is known as Vata tapika.Taking into consideration this philosophy of Ayurveda herbal drug like Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Haridra (Curcuma longum), Nimba (Melia azadirachta), Amalaki (Embellica officinalis), Ashvagandha (Withania somnifera) etc are found very effective to improve immunity.
