Mitra Industries manufactures CAPD bags for dialysis based on a wide range of capacities and automated processes. They are used to remove extra fluid and metabolic waste products from the blood on behalf of kidneys that have lost their function.
There are two types of Dialysis - HD & PD
HD (Hemo Dialysis)
In this type of dialysis, blood is removed out side the body and cleaned by the machine.
PD (Peritoneal Dialysis)
Peritoneal dialysis cleans the blood without it being removed. Dialysate (Dialysis fluid) is injected into the peritoneal space in the abdomen through a two-way catheter (the Tenckhoff catheter). The membrane that lines the abdomen (the peritoneum) allows waste and fluid to pass from the blood into the dialysate, which is pumped out. Peritoneal dialysate, made up mostly of salts and sugar (glucose), encourages ultra filtration (removal of excess water) through the peritoneum.
PD treatment does not need external devices and separate medication. Once trained, patients themselves can change the dialysate bags. Since the patients are not admitted in hospitals, they can enjoy privacy and reduce the chances of infection that arise in a hospital atmosphere.
Peritoneal dialysis fluid is a sugar (glucose) solution containing other salts. Bags come in 3 strengths (1.5%, 2.5% and 4.25% or low, medium and heavy) - the "heavier" the bag (ie.4.25%), more water will be removed from the body.
If a patient has a lot of fluid in the body, he needs to use heavy bags to remove fluid. If the patient is dehydrated, he would use some light bags so that the dialysis does not remove fluid.
