Succinic acid is also called butanedionic acid or amber acid, white monoclinic prisms or schistose crystal. It can be dissolved in hot water and slightly dissolved in ethanol, ether, acetone and glycerin. But it can hardly be dissolved in benzene, carbon sulfide, carbon tetrachloride and oil ether. The boiling point (at 760mmHg), melting point and specific gravity is 235, 185 and 1.57 respectively

Application
Succinic acid is often used to produce five penta-heterocyclic compounds. This product is an important chemical material and has comprehensive use. For instance, in medical industry it can be used to synthesize sedative, antispasmer, antiplegm, antiphogistic, anrhoter, contraception and cancer-curing medicine,etc, and to produce dyestuff, alhydresin, glass fiber, strengthening plastic, on exchange resin and pesticide etc. in chemical industry.
