The Jowar (Sorghum) provided by us is an important food item and fodder crop of dryland agriculture. These Jowar (Sorghum) grains are broken and cooked to be consumed in the same way as rice is prepared. Chapattis can also be prepared by grinding Jowar into flour. Jowar (Sorghum) is also eaten as popped grain and parched to some extent. In farms, Jowar grain is fed to cattle and swine. Moreover, sorghum grain contains 70 per cent carbohydrates, 10-12 per cent protein and 3 per cent fat.
