IN ORDER TO GENERATE THE BRAKING TORQUE, A DC VOLTAGE IS APPLIED THE COIL AT THE LEAD WIRES. THE STATOR WITH EMBEDDED FRICTION LINEAR IS MOUNTED ON STATIONARY FLANGE. THE RESULTING MAGNETIC FIELD OF THE STATOR ACTS OVER THE MAINTAINED AIR GAP ON THE ARMATURE PLATE AND ATTRACTS THE PLATE AGAINST THE FORCE OF THE PRE-STRESSED THE SPRING TOWARDS THE FRICTION LINING ON THE STATOR. THE TORQUE IS TRANSMITTED THROUGH FRICTION AND ROTATING MOUNTED IS INSTANTLY BROUGHT TO A HALT. THE BRAKE IS RELEASED BY SWITCHING OF THE DC VOLTAGE TO THE COIL. BECAUSE OF THE MISSING MAGNETIC FORCE THE PRE-STRESSED SPRING PULLS THE ARMATURE PLATE BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL POSITION AS SET BY AIR GAP. THE BRAKE IS RELEASED AND FREE OF RESIDUAL TORQUE.

The unit is pre-assembled on a single shaft. It functions similar to incorporated in applications where variable speeds and reversing of drives are desired.
Safe Brake-Type:FBR
The braking torque is generated by several compression springs. The brake is released electrically by supplying D.C.voltage. In the event of power failure and breakdown the brake immediately reverts to fail safe action. It also has a unique manual release feature.
THE UNIT IS PRE-ASSEMBLED IN AN ENCASED BODY WITH SLIT SHAFTS FOR CLUTCH AND BRAKE TO ACHIEVE HIGH FREQUENCY START-STOP OPERATIONS. D.C. VOLTAGE IS SUPPLIED TO CLUTCH AND BRAKE INTERMITTENTLY TO ACHIEVE START-STOP CYCLE. THE DESIGN IS STURDY, COMPACT AND PROTECTED FROM FOREIGN PARTICLES IN THE ENCLOSURE.
