Coir fibre is extracted from green, natural coconut husk after retting in inflowing, circulated or changed water for a period of minimum 3 months. Either mechanically or manually extracted from the dry husk of matured and ripe coconut after soaking there husks in water, the fibre is reasonably free from moisture and impurities. The requirements of three grades of fibers are as follows:
* Bristle Fibre: Long and stiff not brittle.
* Mattress Fibre: Short and resilient.
* Decorticated Fibre: Mixed long and short fibre.
