INTRODUCTION:
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises have been accepted the engine of economic growth and for promoting equitable development. In most of the economies they are credited with generating the highest rates of employment growth and account for a major share of industrial production and exports. In India too, the MSMEs play a pivotal role in the overall industrial economy of the country. The labour intensity in the MSME sector is estimated to be almost four times higher than the large enterprises.

New generation of entrepreneurs are discovering new opportunities beyond their core businesses. The innovative spirit of a business is put to the test by the global competition with increasing intensity. In order to succeed in the long term, a business has to be able to offer innovative and individualized services. Strongly fluctuating customer needs and increasing competitive pressures are the main reasons why innovative power is becoming one of the strongest deciding factors for the commercial success or failure of a business. India possesses extraordinary potential for innovation.

Innovation is the key for growth, employment and sustainability. Accordingly, with a view to discussing such potential and future challenges of MSME sector, ASSOCHAM is organizing an international meet “MSME – INNOVATION SUMMIT” with focus on Employment, Growth and Sustainability at 10.00 a.m. on November 4, 2009 at Hotel Oberoi, New Delhi.
