India’s number one platform for the furniture and interior industry,Index Trade Fairs, Mumbai, 2009, witnessed 31,098 visitors from all over the country, over a span of five days from 18 - 22 September 2009 at Bandra - Kurla Complex, Mumbai. Covering an area of 40,000 square meters with 236 participants representing over 700 Indian and international brands, the fair registered an enormous 21.5% increase over Index Mumbai, 2008 figures of 25,591 visitors.

| Index Fair 2009 was formally inaugurated at the hands of Ar. Kamal Malik on 18th September with the lighting of ceremonial lamp. The VIP inauguration party included Dr. Giampaolo Cutillo, Consul General of Italy in India, Mr. Bhagwanadas Bhattad, Executive President, The Property Owners Association, L. A. Khan, Group President, Universal Media Group and Sylvia Khan, Editor and Publisher of Index Furniture Journal.
Well-known for its strong design focus, Index Fairs unique initiative Index Design Boulevard (IDB), a space dedicated exclusively to innovation and creativity offered a select group of architects an opportunity to display their design concepts.

| Products and design from across the globe :
A key feature of this five day event was the opportunity to see products from other parts of the world, such as Spain, Italy, Germany, Malaysia and China. In particular, Abitare Italia, a pavilion dedicated to furniture, lighting and accessories from Italy drew attention with products from major Italian firms The Index Fairs 2009, Mumbai also provided a platform to numerous international associations including ANIEME, the association representing the Spanish furniture industry; Fedai, the Spanish federation of manufacturers and exporters of decorative lighting; Turkish Ceramics Promotion Group; ASCER, the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturer’s Association and Mosder, an association of Turkish Furniture Manufacturers.

Architects - a key attraction to Index Fairs :Attracting well-known personalities from the architectural and designer community, Index Fairs is highly regarded as the event with a strong design focus.
Considered the premier business event of furniture and design industry, Index Fairs are known to bring together the trade and industry segments as well as the all important specifiers from all over the country as well as overseas, in very significant numbers. Keeping with the stringent standards, the entry to the trade fairs was restricted purely to business visitors, ensuring that participants had time to meet and dedicate quality time to their top business prospects. Special business meetings were lined up between the overseas participants and the visiting architects, interior designers, trade promoters, entrepreneurs and specifiers. The occasion witnessed enthusiastic business meetings that enhanced the business prospects of the participants.

Index Mumbai 2009 brought major personalities from the furniture and design industries under a common umbrella and a sprinkling of Bollywood personalities, including Hema Malini, Raveena Tandon and Anuradha Paudwal added to the glamour of the event.
Tradeindia also took part at the popular show in order to meet prominent buyers , delegates & exhibitors participating at the event and to popularise tradeindia as a brand. Tradeindia's booth for all 5 days of the show was visited by thousands of buyers and visitors who inquired about our products & services and praised our efforts for bringing out Tradeindia Exim CD- Rom. Many felt that Tradeindia Exim CD Rom will help them in getting in touch with a large pool of Indian and foreign suppliers for their sourcing requirements.
