Organised by Reed Exhibitions, Aluminum India 2008 opened with a bang with Dr. Subbarami Reddy Hon'ble Minister of State, Ministry of Mines, inaugurating the international conference and exhibition at the Mumbai Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The show took place from 22nd February to 24th February 2008.
The conference-cum-exhibition acquired special significance ,as India's is the 8th largest producer of aluminum in the world . With the increased use of aluminum in almost every industry, from aircrafts to automobiles, from power cables to foils, the exhibition was of great relevance from the international perspective and had on display the latest technology used the world over. The exhibition was an international meeting place for the entire aluminum industry and its various application sectors to meet, interact and transact business with the precise target audience. Besides small and medium industries, PSUs, major giant players like NALCO, HINDALCO, BALCO, and Vedanta Resources participated at the event, showcasing the entire panorama of products, services and technologies on the aluminium industry. They exchanged the best practices, new technology trends, and first hand experiences on the user industry. In all 124 companies from 20 countries participated at the show repre senting the entire value chain of the aluminium industry.

This exhibition has been hosted to highlight the present and future scenario of the aluminum industry, showcasing products and latest technologies to around 1671 quality visitors. The participants and visitors who benefited most are primary & secondary producers, extruders, casters, manufacturers & users of aluminium products, technology developers & finally stakeholders of the transport, construction, telecommunication, electrical and electronic, utensils and home appliances industries.
Bauxite-rich Orissa was the Partner State of 'Aluminum India Conference & Exhibition'. The state has transformed from one of the most backward to the investment destination of India.

The concurrent conference Alcastek 2008, with ”Technology and Innovations in Emerging Markets” theme was attended by 255 delegates. The conference provided a high standard technical forum on new developments addressed by invited world class experts.

We are also thankful to all those participants and visitors' who greatly applauded our efforts in compiling the one of its kind exporters directory viz. Exporters Yellow Pages ,which is released by the portal biennially carryin g product and contact information on Indian manufacturers & exporters. Our representatives also distributed the spacey Tradeindia yellow bags, which almost every visitor carried, carrying their stuff, across the venue.
