These type of Bearings are very identical to deep groove ball Bearing but their design is such that the line of contact between ball and raceway is at an angle. These type of Bearings are capable of taking radial loads and thrust loads in one direction only. These Bearings are designed with three contact angle classifications: Symbol: A: 30° contact angle, B: 40° contact angle, C: 15° contact angle. In this type of Bearing, inner ring has two raceways and outer ring has a spherical raceway and its centre aligns with the center of the Bearing. Therefore, it has self-aligning character and Bearing can comfortably align 4° on either side. Without subjecting a Bearing to any stress, minor displacement of the shaft is automatically adjusted in these types. These Bearings are suitable for heavy radial loads and very little thrust loads. Due to line contact, these type of Bearings have a greater load carrying capacity than the ball Bearings of same dimensions.
